A man who pleaded guilty to killing his mother and grandmother is a suspect in the slaying of another inmate at the federal prison in Ste-Anne-des-Plaines, according to a report.
On Thursday evening, Keven Paille, 36, was taken to hospital after an incident involving another inmate, according to police.
There, he was pronounced dead.
Paille was serving an indeterminate sentence for stabbing two men in Trois-Rivières in 2014 after being declared a dangerous offender in September.
The Sûreté du Québec has arrested a 35-year-old man — also an inmate at the institution.
Police say he will be charged in the killing, though investigators have not determined whether the charge will be first- or second-degree murder.
The man is scheduled to appear in court in St-Jérôme, where he will be formally charged, on Monday. Police say they can’t name the suspect until then.
However, according to a report, the suspect is Christian Pépin, who was sentenced to life in prison in March after pleading guilty to two counts of murder.
This isn’t the first time Pépin has been arrested while incarcerated, in April, he was charged with assaulting another prisoner, a sex offender, two months before.

The 35-year-old Pépin pleaded guilty last week to two first-degree murder charges. Earlier Monday, he had indicated his intention to withdraw his guilty plea before changing his mind roughly an hour later, provided he could read a letter detailing his personal history.
