The Quebec Liberal Party has caught up to the Coalition Avenir Québec and the two are tied in voter support, according to a new Mainstreet Research poll for L’Actualité and QC125.com released Monday.
The poll shows the two parties each with 30 per cent support, followed by the Parti Québécois at 16 per cent and Québec solidaire at 12 per cent.
It’s the CAQ’s lowest score since October, and the worst score for the PQ in the past year, according to QC125’s analysis of previous polls.
The latest poll of 1,062 Quebecers taken April 7-9 also includes the New Democratic Party of Quebec and the Conservative Party of Quebec, each with four per cent of the vote. Neither party has ever elected a member to the National Assembly.
Among francophones, Mainstreet’s poll has the CAQ leading with 33 per cent support, followed by the Liberals with 25 per cent, the PQ with 18 per cent and QS with 14 per cent. This is a significant four-point increase for the Liberals.
